HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Valley rolls past ER; Lady Cards, Jags win

Shelby Valley took control at the outset and went on to beat East Ridge, 70-28, in a game played at the Reservation on Thursday night.

Cassidy Rowe poured in a game-high 22 points as the Lady Kats improved to 6-3. Alyssa Elswick followed with 20 points and Kyra Looney tossed in 18.

Kristen Easterling paced the Lady Warriors (1-7) with eight points.

Martin County erupted for 31 points in the third period to run past Perry Central, 73-58, in the quarterfinals of the Mountain Classic played on Thursday night.

Laken Williams fired in 21 points to lead four Lady Cardinals (8-2) in double figure scoring. Lynndsey Cassell finished with 17 while Katie Marcum scored 14and Alyssa Allen tallied 11.

Floyd Central won its 10th straight game as the Lady Jaguars knocked off 58th District opponent Prestonsburg, 66-50, in a game played at home on Thursday night.

Katie Jo Moore finished with a game-high 18 points and Grace Martin added 17 for unbeaten FC. Kennedy Harvel chipped in 11.

Faith Lazar paced the Lady Blackcats (6-7) with 16 points and Celina Mullins followed with 14.
