High-speed chase leads to arrest in Millard, KY

A man was arrested after leading police on a chase throughout the Millard, KY area.

According to the police citation, 28 yr old Robert Messersmith was traveling on US 460 towards the Marrowbone intersection when police noticed the vehicle only had one tail lamp and no working brake lights.

The arresting officer pursued the vehicle as Messersmith accelerated up to 65 MPH in a 45 MPH zone. As police were attempting to pull Messersmith over, he failed to yield and accelerated.

Messersmith drove onto a strip job road and fled to the top of the mountain where his vehicle became stuck in a pond. He then fled on foot as police caught up with him and made an arrest.

Robert Messersmith was charged with speeding 20 MPH over the limit, fleeing or evading police 1st degree in a vehicle and on foot, no registration plates, failure to maintain required insurance, failure to wear seat belts, no tail lamps, operating on a suspended license, and was placed in the Pike County Detention Center.
