Two Johnson County women are facing felony charges for allegedly passing counterfeit checks in Pike County.
36-year-old Rebecca Ratliff, of Hager Hill, and 24-year-old Megan Stacy, of Swamp Branch, were indicted in Pike County on forgery and theft by deception charges. The women are accused of passing counterfeit payroll checks in the names of hospitals, including Pikeville Medical Center and Highlands Regional Medical Center.
The scheme was allegedly stopped when Ratliff attempted to pass a second counterfeit check at Food City in Pikeville.
Rebecca Ratliff and Megan Stacy were indicted on charges of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree and theft by deception. Pike Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Bartley said investigations are currently ongoing in other Eastern Kentucky counties where the women are believed to have executed the same scheme.
