Josh Martin, an Eastern Kentucky native is no stranger to songwriting and musicianship. Martin signed with Sony/ATV Music as a writer and artist in 2016 and continues to make an impression no matter where he performs. After the release of his new album “Nothing Holding Me”, I caught up with Josh at Mountain Music Exchange on Thursday to find out more about the songs on his album and who his band was while recording. James Mitchell, who has worked with Willie Nelson and Alison Krauss, played the electric guitar, the standing CMA Instrumentalist of the Year 2019, Jenee Fleenor played fiddle on the record, Kory Caudill played keys, J.T. Cure from Elkhorn City and who currently performs with Chris Stapleton played bass, and Paiste sponsored Steve Brewster is playing drums. Martin mentions that all songs on the album were written about growing up in Eastern and his mountain heritage. Josh will be performing at the Brickhouse in Prestonsburg for his album release party on Friday December 6th starting at 6:00 PM.
