Frankfort, KY — Governor Bevin has signed a bill into law, allowing people to carry a concealed handgun without a permit or training within the state. Last week, Bevin said Senate Bill 150 was supported by a vast majority of Kentuckians. It won final approval from lawmakers last month. When the law goes into effect on July 1st, Kentucky will become the 16 state nationwide to allow ‘permitless’ concealed carry. People may still receive a concealed carry permit along with the training if they desire to carry concealed in states with reciprocity. Supporters say the measure makes no changes regarding where and when people can possess concealed weapons. Opponents disapproved of dropping the training requirement.
