LONDON, Ky. — A Knott County man who chose to represent himself in his federal trial on drug and gun charges could spend the rest of his life in prison, after being found guilty on all counts Thursday.

Michael Nolan Slone, 37, of Mousie, was charged with possession of more than 50 grams of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug crime, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

On the second day of trial at the U.S. District Courthouse in London, the jury heard closing arguments Thursday morning, then began deliberations. They returned with the guilty verdict shortly after lunch.

They also ordered him to forfeit a rifle and more than $3,400 in cash that were seized during the investigation.

Slone will return to court July 6 for sentencing, when he faces a potential life sentence.
