Route 321 bridge closes in Hager Hill area of Johnson County following inspection

HAGER HILL, Ky. — To ensure safety, officials with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet have closed the Route 321 bridge in the Hager Hill area of the county. The bridge is located over the Levisa Fork of the Big Sandy River just north of the Paintsville side of the Route 1107 intersection at Powell Addition.

The inspection conducted by bridge specialists with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet revealed concerns with the bridge’s substructure. It is now closed to all traffic until further notice.

Engineers will access the bridge and determine what repairs might be necessary. The bridge is used by roughly 4,700 vehicles each day.

Updates on progress will be given as more information becomes available.

Barricades have been placed at each end of the bridge. All motorists must use an alternate route. Motorists can detour using nearby connecting routes until further notice.
