KY County Unemployment Numbers

Frankfort, KY — Kentucky has released countywide unemployment numbers for July. Unemployment rates rose in 99 Kentucky counties, fell in 15 and remained the same in six counties, that according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development cabinet. Woodford County recorded the lowest jobless rate in the Commonwealth at 3.7 percent while Harlan County recorded the state’s highest unemployment rate at 13.1 percent. Elsewhere in the region, Floyd County reported 7.7 percent up from 7.5 percent in June, Johnson County remained at 7.6 percent, Lawrence County remained at 8.1 percent, Letcher County reported 8.8 percent up from 7.5 percent in June, Magoffin County reported 13.0 percent up from 12.3 percent in June, Martin County reported 8.5 percent up from 8.1 percent and Pike County reported 6.9 percent up from 6.7 percent in June. Statewide, unemployment rose from 4.9 percent in June to 5.1 percent in July. The National rate stands at 4.0 percent.
