PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Letcher County man and woman have pleaded guilty to charges in connection with a scheme to fraudulently obtain pandemic benefits.

Madison Balo, 27, and Kyler Sullivan, 21, both of Jenkins, pleaded guilty Friday to charges of wire fraud and identity theft conspiracy.

Both had been accused of filing for a $10,000 advance on a fraudulent business loan. Balo faced multiple charges for repeating the scheme six more times.

They were also accused of taking someone else’s $1,200 stimulus payment.

A judge will now decide whether to accept the pleas before setting a sentencing date.
