Pikeville, Ky.–EKB News has been following the inspiring story of 46-year old Powerlifter James Justice.
After a 23-year hiatus from Powerlifting James, who does much of his training at the YMCA in Pikeville, set two state records and won in the Master’s Division last November with a 358lb bench-press and a 545lb dead-lift.
James went on to compete in the USPA National Meet in July at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas placing second overall. While there he discovered some exciting news.
“I didn’t know until after that night that I needed a few more pounds to qualify for the World Championships in November.
So, the judge told me I could enter a sanctioned meet on September ninth. I entered the competition and broke 3 state records in squat, bench and deadlift.
The day after that I also found out that I qualify for the World Cup Championship in Russia. So there are two competitions I’m working on that I’m going to try to win.
The Atlanta World Championship, drug tested and the Moscow, Russia World Cup. I’m so happy to go! I made it! I made it!”
James will be competing in the USPA/IPL National Powerlifting Championship in Atlanta Georgia November 18th and 19th.
