PRESTONSBURG, KY.– With today’s technology one would think Santa Clause would have an email address or some sort of social media account, but according to officials in Prestonsburg, Santa still prefers to receive his letters from children the ole fashion way.

In the heart of downtown Prestonsburg right next to the city Christmas tree is a special mailbox just for letters to Santa.

“It’s Santa’s mailbox! We see that he gets the mail that goes in through it. He returns the letters he can, he returns with an answer. He reads all of them, all are looked at carefully. Sometimes an Elf has to take his place, but most of the time Santa is reading them himself. Christmas is a time of celebration. Christmas is a time to enjoy family, to enjoy life, to enjoy the season, as long as you remember the reason for the season. We feel like in the City of Prestonsburg we need to put our good foot forward.”

Mayor Stapleton went on to remind children that time is running out and to get your letters in soon.
