A Floyd County man is in jail following a foot pursuit Thursday. According to a press release, the incident occurred around 11:30 Thursday morning. Martin City Police Chief Kenny Stidham attempted to stop 41-year-old Bill David Barnett of Martin who was wanted for multiple warrants. As Stidham approached Barnett, Barnett jumped into Beaver Creek attempting to flee. Stidham requested assistance and Deputies with the Floyd County Sheriff’s office and Wayland City Police Chief Brian Ratliff responded. Barnett was located on the creek bank trying to hide from law enforcement and was taken into custody without further incident. Barnett was lodged on the original outstanding warrants for flagrant non-support, persistent felony offender and probation violation and additional charges for fleeing or evading police on foot and resisting arrest.
