Man Charged Resisting Police

Pikeville, KY — An eight-count indictment has been returned this week by a Pike Grand Jury against a Pikeville man. 28-year-old John McAnallen was arrested June 26th by Pikeville Police after he allegedly assaulted two men near Velocity Market in the Sunrise Plaza on Hambley Boulevard. After police arrived, McAnallen scuffled with officers kicking, spitting and biting the officers while being arrested and two tasers were used. The grand jury returned five counts of Assault in the 3rd degree, which is a class D felony for assaulting five police officers, one count of resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor, one count of fleeing or evading police second degree, a class A misdemeanor and one count of Public Intoxication, a class B misdemeanor. An indictment is merely an accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
