Man Hit By Train In Logan County

LOGAN COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) — Logan County deputies said a pedestrian was struck by a train.

Wilburn Vanatter III, 36, of McConnell was hit by a train about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday at McConnell near State Electric, according to a news release from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy who arrived at the scene said he saw firefighters and emergency medical staff treating a man with severe injuries who was lying underneath the train on railroad tracks. The man was removed from underneath the train by first responders and transported to the Logan Regional Medical Center.

On Wednesday, the man’s condition appeared to be stable, the sheriff’s office said.
