Williamson, WV — A Norfolk and Southern train struck a pedestrian yesterday afternoon in Mingo County. Authorities say the incident occurred around 3:30 pm at the railroad tracks in West Williamson just past the Williamson Elementary School. The pedestrian, 52-year-old Jason Savage, was struck and knocked 5 to 6 feet. Police say that Savage’s injuries did not appear to be life threatening. Savage was transported to Williamson Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to Pikeville Medical Center. Williamson Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene along with STAT ambulance service.
