FLOYD COUNTY, KY.– Much of the duties performed by law enforcement officers go unrecognized, but that was not the case at the Martin City council meeting tonight as Lt. Kenny Stidham received the Meritorious Service Award for his more than two decades of service to the Commonwealth of Kentucky and Officer Kristen Nicole Napier received the Community Policing Award for her service above self.
“I’m real big into helping the kids. The Christmas with a Cop event last year I was able to raise enough money for 65 kids in the community. I just like getting involved with the kids and the animals. It feels good because we don’t get recognized a lot for what we do and when we do get recognized it’s not often, so I was surprised.”
The Martin City Police Department gave 2 “We Back the Blue Awards” as they recognized Jackie Brown of the Floyd County Animal Shelter for taking an active role in and supporting the rights of the animal population and the employees of El Azul Grande for creating a positive and supportive environment for the law enforcement community.
