john allenSOUTH WILLIAMSON, Ky. — A Floyd County man was arrested after a shoplifting complaint led deputies to a stolen church bus. The Pike County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call, Friday, in reference to a shoplifting complaint at Food City in South Williamson. According to police, 46-year-old John L. Allen, of Click Branch in Martin, and his wife were seen inside the store concealing, opening and eating around $16 worth of merchandise and passing through all points of sale. Allen, his wife and his daughter also allegedly tried to cash a check from a church that was reported as stolen, along with a church bus. The bus and checks were reported stolen the same day the alleged shoplifting incident occurred. While deputies were attempting to check for warrants, Allen allegedly ran from police. Police say Allen attempted to make it to his wife’s vehicle while Food City employees and Pike County deputies pursued him on foot. Once authorities caught up with Allen, his wife left in the vehicle. John Allen was arrested at the scene and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center. He was charged with several theft offenses, including auto theft in reference to the stolen church bus, resisting arrest, menacing, and disorderly conduct. The investigation is ongoing.
