Memorial softball tournament to be held in Pike County

PIKE COUNTY, Ky. — On behalf of Pikeville Police Officer Scotty Hamilton’s family, community members are hosting a Scotty Hamilton Memorial Softball Tournament.

The tournament is to raise money for the Brynlee Elizabeth Hamilton trust fund set up by Community Trust Bank.

It will be a double elimination format and can have up to 25 participating teams. The tournament will take place on June 2nd and 3rd and a homerun derby will take place on the 1st.

Teams have up until Wednesday, May 30th, to sign up. The entry fee for the tournament is $200. The homerun derby is $15. Concessions will be provided.

The weekend will be used as a celebration of life for Scotty Hamilton and his family.

“Scotty played for me for three years in Bluegrass games,” said organizer Jeff Adkins. “I played with him in Elkhorn, I played with him in Pikeville and in Lexington. He’s one of them kids that just loved the game. He was all about his community, doing his job with the police department. Whenever you seen him, he had a smile. He had a smile that just … lit up the room. Just being around him on the ball field, he made it fun. He made it interesting. Couldn’t ask for a better teammate.”
