Mingo County Teacher Dies In Crash

Mingo County, WV. — West Virginia State Police reports a Mingo County school teacher died after a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 119 Monday. 27-year-old Ashley Ferguson of Lenore was driving a Ford Escape Monday afternoon when she apparently pulled out onto Corridor G and was struck by a Chevy Silverado driven by Aaron Copley, also of Lenore. Copley suffered a broken leg and was transported to Pikeville Medical Center. Ferguson was a first-grade teacher at Kermit PK-8 school and was returning from teacher training at Mingo Central High School. West Virginia State Police were assisted at the scene by Mingo County Sheriff’s Office, Lenore and Delbarton Volunteer Fire Departments.
