In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Breakfast and memorial service was held Monday at First Baptist Church in Whitesburg.

Now in its fourth year, the breakfast and service brings together local folks to discuss and reflect on Dr. King’s legacy of tolerance, community and unity. The event is a joint effort of First Baptist Church and the Cowan Community Center.

At this year’s breakfast, attendees were asked to write down their respective dreams for their community and post that dream on the wall for all to see.

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr would have been 89 this year.
