PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County woman is facing a felony charge, after she allegedly left her child it a hot vehicle.

Tina S. Hamilton, 30, of Belcher, was arrested Tuesday after police received a call of a small child sitting in a parked car unattended.
According to police, upon arrival, a 3-year-old boy was found sitting in the back seat of a vehicle parked at Economy Drug. He was allegedly buckled in his child safety seat with no adult supervision. Police say the child had heavy sweat on his head and upper body. The police report notes the two front windows were open, but the rear windows where the child was sitting were closed.
The vehicle was not running and the air conditioner was off when the child was found. Police say the car was 113 degrees inside. Temperatures were 90 degrees outside at the time of the incident.
According to the arrest citation, Hamilton told police she was in the store getting Neurontin.
The child was transported to Pikeville Medical Center for medical treatment. He was later placed in custody of child services.
Tina Hamilton was arrested and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center. She is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, which is punishable by 1-to-5 years in prison.
