Mountain bike trail ride set in Pike County

BALLFORK MOUNTAIN, Ky. — Friends of Pike County Cycling is hosting a mountain bike trail ride this weekend.

The ride will start at 2 o’clock Sunday at Ballfork Mountain in the Blackberry and Stone communities. The event is free and open to the public.

The event is designed for beginners and more advanced cyclists.

“It’s a great community. We’d like to encourage everybody to come out and take advantage of that. If you’re looking for some exercise, it’s a couple hours ride. We’ll have some hydration and some soft drinks there. Sometimes folks will throw in a lunch and do a little tailgate event. It just makes for a nice afternoon. If you’ve got kids, the kids are welcome as well. We just want everybody to come out and have a great time,” said Pike County Trails Coordinator Jim Bevins.
