New Officer Starts Patrol

Prestonsburg, KY — A new Police Officer has started patrolling in the City of Prestonsburg. Patrolman Josh Hinkle completed and graduated from the Department of Criminal Justice Training’s Basic Police Academy and obtained his Police Officers’ Professional Standards certification form the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. During his twenty weeks at the academy, Hinkle completed training in evasive driving, firearms, defensive tactics, legal and penal code and many other areas of study. Hinkle served in his class leadership as a squad leader, which mimics the role of a squad or shift sergeant in active service. Hinkle joined the Prestonsburg Police Department after nearly twenty years with CSX Transportation. Hinkle has begun his patrol duties on the night shift.
