Officials create new scholarship for homeless Pike County students

The Pike County School District created a new scholarship for homeless students who may be graduation.

The scholarship was funded by money raised by local business owner Mike Johnson. Johnson said that when he was approached by school officials and told about the scholarship he felt honored, and is happy to be doing anything that will help the children out.

Recipients of the scholarship are chosen by the district’s Homeless Education Coordinator and must have received assistance from the homeless program.

For more information about the scholarship, contact Pike County’s Homeless Education Coordinator Rick Branham, at (606) 433-9344.
