Pastor accused of sending sexually explicit texts to a 17 year old female appears in court

Monday afternoon, 26 year old Bobby J. Blackburn, accused of sending sexually explicit texts to a juvenile, appeared in a Floyd County courtroom. Prestonsburg Police say Blackburn, the pastor of Elevate Church in Prestonsburg and manager of the Prestonsburg Giovannis, sent text messages to a 17 year old female in late May, asking her to engage in a sexual act with himself and another juvenile.  Blackburn appeared in Floyd District Court for his preliminary hearing, where testimony was given by Prestonsburg Police Sgt. Ross Shurtleff.  Shurtleff stated he had proof that Blackburn was the one who sent the messages, while Blackburn’s attorney claimed he had proof to the contrary.  Judge Eric Hall ordered Blackburn to remain on home incarceration until the case was heard by the grand jury.
