PHELPS, Ky. — When “Survivor” returns for its 36th season next month, Eastern Kentucky will be represented.

Phelps native Donathan Michael Hurley, 26, is among the 20 contestants seeking to claim the top prize in the reality-show competition.
In an interview with CBS, Hurley said he feels he has a good chance to win because he is familiar with the outdoors from growing up in Eastern Kentucky. He adds that he is excited to show the world that “this little, gay, hillbilly nerd” isn’t afraid of nature.
This season is termed “Survivor: Ghost Island” and takes place on an island filled with relics from past seasons, which contestants will have to use to navigate their way to the finale.
Hurley’s full “Survivor” bio can be found here.
“Survivor: Ghost Island” will air Wednesdays at 8 p.m., beginning Feb. 28.
