Pike Judge Executive urges residents to use warming centers

PIKEVILLE, Ky. –  The bitter cold temperatures have arrived, and several warming centers around the region have opened their doors.  In Pike County, all eight of the county’s Senior Citizens Centers will be open, from 6pm Tuesday evening through Thursday.  Pike County Judge Executive Ray Jones encourages anyone who needs a warm shelter to take advantage of the warming centers rather than attempting to heat their home using unsafe methods.  Elkhorn City Mayor Mike Taylor is offering transportation assistance to the warming center in Elkhorn City.   Anyone needing transportation in that area is asked to call 606-253-1720.
