The Pike County Fiscal Court is moving forward with moving graves that had been paved over in the Pounding Mill area of the county.
At Tuesday’s meeting, County Attorney Howard Keith Hall said relatives of those occupying the affected graves are prepared to relocate the plots to another area. Hall said the court needed only to approve letting Jones and West Funeral Home to go under to the road to get to the graves.
The measure to approve the project passed unanimously.
Pike Deputy Judge-Executive Herbie Deskins said Pounding Mill Road will need to be closed for a short time to allow the work to be done. Hall said the project will be done at no cost to the county.
