The community and many across the region are still coming to grips with the murder of Pikeville Police Officer Scotty Hamilton. Many are still paying tribute to the fallen officer, and today a local governing body paused to reflect on the impact Hamilton had on his community.

Before the handling of the county’s business got underway Tuesday, the Pike County Fiscal Court paused in remembrance of fallen Officer Hamilton. The 12-year veteran officer was shot and killed in the line of duty March 13 at Hurricane Creek.

Pikeville Police Chief Chris Edmonds wears a black band with Scotty Hamilton’s unit number across his badge in honor of the fallen officer.

The Fiscal Court held a moment of silence in Hamilton’s memory and they offered their condolences to the late police officer’s family.

Members of the Pikeville Police Department also attended the meeting. Police Chief Chris Edmonds said his department is humbled by the outpouring of love expressed for Hamilton, and the support being offered to Hamilton’s surviving fellow officers.
