Pikeville High School advances in national STEAM competition

samsung squareOn Tuesday, students and faculty at Pikeville High School learned they are one of five schools in Kentucky being recognized on a national level for inspiring change in their local communities.  Selected from a pool of nearly 3,000 entries, 255 schools were named state finalists in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest.  Biology teacher Kelly Scott says the group working on this project, which includes both students and community members, chose to address the region’s opioid addiction crisis.  After submitting their activity plan next month, which outlines their project, 51 state winners will be announced.  Each of those winners will be awarded a $25,000 dollar Samsung technology package.
