Police: Machine gun, Rolex watches stolen by Pike man

SIDNEY, Ky. — A Pike County man is behind bars after allegedly stealing more than $60,000 worth of items and re-selling them.

Over the course of three months, 29-year-old James Gregory Case, of Sidney, allegedly stole 22 firearms, two Rolex watches, two knives, and several rare coins from three different people.

Court documents said one of the firearms, an Uzi sub-machine gun in its original box, was valued at approximately $12,000, and a woman’s Rolex watch was valued at more than $20,000. Court documents said those items, along with two knives, a case and coins, were allegedly recovered from a man to whom Case had apparently sold them.

A men’s Rolex watch, valued at over $28,000, was located at a local pawn shop. Case was allegedly paid $2,000 for that pawn.

Case was arrested and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center. He was charged with theft by unlawful taking and theft of a firearm.

The Pikeville Police Department is in charge of the investigation.
