Wednesday evening, downtown Pikeville will begin its yearly transformation as the 42nd annual Hillbilly Days Festival gets underway. More than one hundred vendors will spend much of Wednesday afternoon in staging areas around town, waiting for the go ahead to load in. Signs were placed around Pikeville this week as a reminder to those who live, work and do business downtown to make sure all vehicles are off the streets by 5pm Wednesday. Pikeville Public Safety Director Paul Maynard says everyone also needs to be mindful of the traffic pattern changes as they plan to attend the festival. Another suggestion Maynard has for anyone attending Hillbilly Days is to take a picture of where you park your vehicle. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the festival and forget where you left your car.
