Monday afternoon a Kentucky State Trooper arrested 47 year old Charles Christopher Morris for DUI. As word of that arrest spread through the community, many people found themselves going back to March of 2001, when Morris was charged with murder following a tragic crash. In that case, Morris ran a red light and struck the vehicle driven by Troy Thornsbury, who was driving his 22 year old wife, Veronica to the hospital to give birth to their child. Both Veronica and her child were killed, and Morris eventually pleaded guilty to two counts of second degree manslaughter.
Morris is now facing a charge of First Offense DUI for Monday’s arrest, which has sparked numerous questions about how that is possible. However, as Assistant Pike County Attorney Kyle Deskins explains, Kentucky law only looks at a ten year window when it comes to DUI charges.
