Here is a statement from Floyd County Sheriff’s office by Sheriff John Hunt as he provided an update on the tragedy that occurred involving multiple horses shot and killed, including young and pregnant horses, on a Floyd County strip mine.
“Today, crews went back to the scene again and followed up on the investigation. They did find six additional horses that had been killed that were not found before. These horses appeared to have been shot, as well. The total number of horses killed, as of now, is 20. The reward is $20,000 for anyone who can provide information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible. Deputies are actively investigating this case, following up on several tips and are continuing to look for any evidence to assist in the investigation.”
