Pikeville, KY — A Richmond, Kentucky woman is in jail after trying to shoplift $19.72 in merchandise and assaulting police officers. According to the arrest citations, Pikeville Police responded to Walmart on theft by unlawful taking complaint. When officers arrived, store security officers advised them that 40-year-old Brandy Michelle Osborne had been opening merchandise while walking through the store and refused to pay for any of it. When officers questioned Osborne about the complaint, Osborne stated she was going to have the money direct deposited to Walmart after she left the store. Officers explained she couldn’t do that at which time Osborne attempted to run from the officers. Osborne was quickly apprehended and arrested. After arriving at the Pike County Detention Center, Osborne kicked the arresting officer between the legs. Another Pikeville Police officer who was at the facility with another arrest came to assist and Osborne kicked that officer twice then kicked the arresting officer two more times. Two Deputy Jailers came to the officers’ assistance and escorted Osborne upstairs where she again resisted and was placed in a restraint chair. Osborne was charged with Theft by unlawful taking, Resisting arrest and Assault 3rd degree on a Police Officer.
