The governments of Pike County and the City of Pikeville have lifted a restriction on shoppers inside of businesses in the city.
In a joint proclamation issued Friday afternoon, Pike Judge-Executive Ray S. Jones II and Pikeville Mayor Jimmy Carter jointly lifted the order restricting shoppers to one person per shopping cart, or one person per household, in businesses in the city. The original order was issued April 2, 2020, in response to the spread of the novel coronavirus.
According to Friday’s filing, businesses in the city must continue to follow guidelines issued by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding social distancing and sanitization of shopping carts, including sanitizing carts between uses. Shoppers must continue to maintain six feet of distance and businesses must not permit shoppers to congregate.
The order is effective Saturday, May 30.
