Store employee thwarts burglary

SOUTH WILLIAMSON, Ky. — An employee at Tractor Supply in South Williamson thwarted an attempted burglary.

Just before noon, Tuesday, an employee taking out trash discovered two chainsaws and a bag full of batteries in the alley. The items were valued at approximately $1,000. The employee placed the items back inside the store.

“While I was out throwing my trash away, he comes down the back alley to get the items, but they were already back in the store,” said Tomi Ball, a Tractor Supply employee. “We called the state police, they came, watched the cameras. Then, about 30 minutes later, they did a traffic stop and stopped the gentleman, not knowing that it was actually him.

“It’s never happened. I mean, we’ve had shoplifters, but never nobody go out the back door with stuff.”

Kentucky State Police troopers tell EKB News the man admitted to attempting the steal the items.

At this time, due to the individual not having the items in his possession, no arrests have yet been made in the case. Charges are currently pending.

The case remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police.
