Students get simulations of distracted and impaired driving

DRIVE 2BELFRY, Ky. — Students at Belfry High School learned some valuable driving lessons today. Save A Life tour hosted an interactive driver’s safety program today at the school. Juniors and seniors participated in the program where they were given a hands-on experience using driving simulators. Students were able to use a machine to show the effects of texting and driving or drinking and driving. In both simulators, students had to follow the rules of the road. During the texting simulator students had to respond to simple texts while driving. During the drinking and driving simulator, the machine adds a drunk delay to their steering, gas and brakes to show the delay in your brain and motor skills if you were actually drinking while driving a car.
