LOUISA, Ky. — A Lawrence County man has been arrested on multiple counts related to child pornography.

The Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch began investigating Christopher Alan Price, 26, of Louisa, on suspicion that he was distributing child porn images online. That led to police obtaining a search warrant Thursday for Price’s home, where they seized equipment believed to facilitate the crime.

As a result of the investigation, Price was arrested and charged with:

• One count of first-degree sodomy
• 25 counts of promoting a minor under 16 in a sexual performance
• 20 counts of possession child porn of victim under 12
• Eight counts of distributing child porn of a victim under 12
• Nine counts of sexual crimes against an animal

All of the charges are felonies, with the sodomy and sexual performance charges carrying the longest potential sentence at 10-to-20 years in prison.

Price is being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.

SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — A Magoffin County man who admitted to possessing child porn and having sex with the family dog has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Kent Simpkins, 43, of Salyersville, pleaded guilty back in November to one count of distributing child porn, three counts of possessing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor younger than 12, two counts of possessing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor older than 12, and one count of sexual crime against an animal.

“This predator was already far down a dangerous path of criminal activity,” said Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman, whose office prosecuted the case. “We are grateful to the team of detectives and prosecutors whose dedicated efforts will ensure this man is kept far away from children.”

Simpkins came under investigation by the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch after he was allegedly discovered uploading pornographic images of children on social media. KSP obtained a search warrant and raided his home on Burning Fork Road, resulting in the seizure of electronic items.

An analysis of his electronic items found multiple images of minors involved in sexual acts, numerous animal sex videos and a video of Simpkins involved in a sexual act with the family’s dog.

In addition to his prison sentence, Simpkins will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

JACKSON, Ky. — A Breathitt County man has been arrested on a bestiality charge, after police found a video of him allegedly having sex with a dog.

Andrew Bennett, 30, of Jackson, was arrested Sunday night, after Kentucky State Police received a complaint and a copy of the video.

According to the police report, Bennett denied the allegations, but admitted being in the video. He is now charged with sexual crimes against animals, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — A Magoffin County man who was arrested under Kentucky’s new bestiality law has entered a guilty plea in the case.

Willie Wireman, 35, of Royalton, was arrested back in June and charged with sexual crimes against animals.

According to court records, a neighbor complained about him committing bestiality with his dog, and a police officer responding to the complaint allegedly caught him in the act. Sexual crimes against animals is a felony and carries a potential sentence of 1-to-5 years in prison.

In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors have agreed to recommend a prison sentence of four years. He will be sentenced on Thursday.

Wireman remains in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, where he has been held since June.

ROYALTON, Ky. — Kentucky’s bestiality law has only been around for two years, and now a Magoffin County man has been charged under it.

Willy Wireman, 35, of Royalton, was arrested last week and charged with sexual crimes against animals. He was arrested after a neighbor complained about him allegedly committing bestiality with his dog, and a police officer responding to the complaint allegedly caught him in the act.

Sexual crimes against animals is a felony and carries a potential sentence of 1-to-5 years in prison.

Charges under the bestiality law have been rare, since its passage in 2019. The first conviction came in November, when a man and woman pleaded guilty to the charge as well as torture of an animal in Mason Circuit Court.

Wireman is currently being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
