Hazard, KY — Kentucky State Police Post 13 Hazard continue to investigate a fatal shooting involving Troopers. According to a release, Troopers were looking for Christopher L. Brown of Letcher County regarding a possible stolen vehicle and for previous criminal offenses. Shortly before 6:30 Tuesday evening, Brown was spotted in the parking lot of the Daniel Boone Motor Inn near Hazard. Brown fled from Troopers and a pursuit ensued on KY 15 south of Hazard to the Vicco community of Perry County where Brown drove onto a strip mine road striking a Trooper. Other Troopers fired on the vehicle fatally wounding Brown. Brown was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Perry County Coroner’s Office. The Trooper was taken to Hazard ARH for treatment and was released. Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is leading the investigation.
