Letcher County, KY — Kentucky State Police, Post 13 Hazard is investigating a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of one man and left another in critical condition. According to authorities, the crash occurred late Wednesday afternoon around 5:30 pm on Highway 7 South in the Line Fork community of Letcher County. Investigators determined that 25-year-old Nathan Cole of Line Fork was traveling south on Highway 7 when his car crossed the center line and traveled into the northbound lane colliding with a pickup truck driven by 52-year-old David Mark Holbrook of Whitesburg. Cole was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Letcher County Coroner’s Office. Holbrook was taken to Pikeville Medical Center and later transferred to University of Kentucky Medical Center where he remains in critical condition. Authorities say no autopsy will be performed and toxicology results are pending.
