PIKEVILLE, Ky. — One person is dead, following a crash Monday morning on US 23 in Pikeville.

According to Pikeville Police, Brandon Hamilton was traveling south near Ratliff’s Creek around 7 a.m., when he hit a guardrail. His vehicle then ricocheted into oncoming traffic, where it was hit by a Wayne Supply truck driven by William Younce.

Hamilton died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by Pikeville Police. 

The crash shut down the highway for nearly three hours during morning rush hour traffic, but the highway has since reopened.
