Unemployment picture improving in the region

County-level unemployment rates for November have been released, and as usual, Kentucky’s highest jobless figures are in the eastern end of the state. But the picture does appear to be improving. Once again, Magoffin County had the highest rate, at 12-point-7 percent.

 

However, Magoffin County is the only county in the state with a rate above 10 percent. Other counties in our area are all below 8 percent, with most below seven percent. Pike County had the lowest rate in our region, at 6-point-2 percent. Statewide, the lowest rate was in Woodford County, at 2-point-7 percent. Overall, the statewide unemployment rate for November was 4-point-7 percent.
