Floyd County, KY — Kentucky State Police at the Pikeville Post continue to investigate a fatal incident in Floyd County. According to authorities, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on U.S. 23 in the Stanville community shortly before 8:30 Wednesday night. The pedestrian, who was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Floyd County Coroner’s office, has been identified as 67-year-old Jerry Hackworth of the Beaver community in Floyd County. At this time, it’s unclear if Hackworth was attempting to cross the highway or walking on the road when he was struck by the vehicle. At this time, no charges are pending, and alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be involved. Troopers were assisted on the scene by Betsy Layne Fire Department, Lifeguard Ambulance and the Floyd County Coroner’s office.
