
PIKEVILLE – The second most number of academic honors were earned by members of the University of Pikeville baseball team on Wednesday evening in Bowling Green.
UPIKE had 14 student-athletes named Academic All Mid-South Conference. Only Cumberland (Tenn.) earned more with 18.
UPIKE’s honorees include Jacob Alvarado, Alec Barba, Max Hall, Jake Hamilton, Luke Hartlage, Luke Lubiniecki, Tommy McCormick, Chase McKinney, Nelson Muniz, Matt Peterson, Robert Rundle, Daniel Sterenberg, Jay Vincent and Shane Williams.
McCormick and Sterenberg are earning the honor for the third straight season, while Barba, Hall, Hartlage, Peterson, Rundle, Vincent and Williams grab their second academic awards.
In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved at least sophomore academic status.
