PIKEVILLE – The University of Pikeville athletics department hosted its first-ever ESPYs awards Sunday night.
An individual from each of the department’s 22 varsity sports was named its respective player of the year, followed by the announcement of 25 individual and team awards.
Those honors are listed below:

Community Service Award: Men’s Basketball
Women’s Champion of Character: Megan Hedgespeth (Women’s Bowling)
Men’s Champion of Character: Rze Culbreath (Men’s Basketball)
Pikey Spirit Award: Baseball Team
Orange Heart (110% Award): Jordan Perry (Men’s Basketball)
Captain’s Award: Camron Parsley (Football)
Comeback Player of the Year: Sani Warren (Football)
Breakthrough Athlete of the Year: Jordan Gentry (Softball)
Record Breaking Performance of the Year: Boo Newsome (Women’s Golf)
Performance of the Year: Bruce Bell (Baseball)
