WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — Deputies investigating illegal dumps in Mingo County say two businesses are to blame. Now they are being told to clean up or face the consequences.
The Mingo County Sheriff’s Office, along with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, issued notices of violation to two businesses in Williamson.
The Mingo County Sheriff’s Office received several complaints about tires being illegally stored and dumped throughout the county. After further investigation, the sheriff’s office found hundreds of tires being dumped behind Chattaroy Church of God and in the Miller’s Creek area.
According to police, Mike’s Tires and the Tire Man in Williamson have been dumping tires illegally in Mingo County and paying another man to dump tires illegally in Kentucky.
The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources issued both businesses a notice of violation. The notice gives the businesses time to fix the situation before they are officially charged.
