Woman charged with passing stopped school bus

passbus - Staci Watson mugshotA Pike County woman is facing charges after allegedly passing a stopped school bus late last month.

35-year-old Staci Watson, whose name is also listed as Stacy Abshire, of Steele, was arrested Halloween night. According to an arrest warrant, Watson passed a stopped school bus on a four-wheeler at a high rate of speed on October 27th.

The warrant said the bus had flashing lights activated and its stop sign extended. According to the warrant, a special needs student was crossing in front of the bus to cross the road when Watson passed. The incident allegedly happened in front of the student’s father, who was waiting on the child to cross.

Watson was charged with a misdemeanor count of passing a loading or unloading school bus. She was also charged with probation violation, and remained lodged in the Pike County Detention Center as of this posting.
