57TH DISTRICT SOFTBALL: Johnson Central, Paintsville reach title game

Johnson Central pitcher Emily Adkins struck out 13 batters and allowed only two hits as the Lady Eagles advanced to the championship game with a 10-0 victory over Martin County in the semifinals played at Magoffin County High School on Memorial Day.

Kendal Hall had four hits for the Lady Eagles, now 29-6. She had three doubles and one single while driving in four runs. Clara Blair and Abigail Williams each belted a home run. Blair also doubled and knocked in two runs. Madelyn Vaughn doubled, singled, and scored twice.

Brittany Thompson had both hits for the Lady Cardinals. Brynnalyn Smith reached on a walk.

Kayleigh Osendott was the losing pitcher for Martin County, which saw its season end at 17-19.

Paintsville punched its ticket to the championship game with an 8-5 victory over host Magoffin County in the semifinal matchup played in Salyersville on Memorial Day.

The Lady Tigers, now 16-18, will face the Lady Eagles at 6 p.m. tonight in the championship game.

Katie Howard belted a home run for the Lady Hornets, who season ended at 14-13. She knocked in two runs. Presley Smith had three singles, scored a pair of runs and added an RBI. Emilee Bailey collected two hits and drove in one run.

Jaden Williams was the losing pitcher.
