A win for the Martin County Concerned Citizens

Martin County, Ky.–An investigation into the Martin County Water District began in early 2016 after residents complained to the PSC of poor water quality and water outages.

Several hearings have been held since that time and the PSC now says those hearing will continue every 90 days until the matter is resolved. The Kentucky Public Service Commission recently granted the Martin County Concerned Citizens intervention in its investigation into the Martin County Water District.

“The citizens feel that only with the citizens involvement will  any kind of settlement or agreement that is reached, or any kind of decision that is reached will that be really enforced. We are really concerned about what would happen if they reached another settlement say next month and what’s going to happen in a year. So we think that id the citizens are given a seat at the table and are allowed to really have a decision on how this gets fixed this time that it might actually get fixed.”
